Don't be fooled by the fact that the studio behind The Matador has been rolling it out slowly as if it were an Oscar contender. When I first saw the trailer for this film I was disappointed because it looked ... well ... pretty lame, but then it scored over 70% on Rotten Tomatoes and got some decent reviews overall.

Don't buy it - The Matador is a pointless, meandering bore with nothing very original or redeeming whatsoever. The possible exception would be the performance by Pierce Brosnan as an assassin who's losing his edge and going a bit nuts, but the movie surrounding him has such a lack of direction that I couldn't even appreciate the good parts. You've been warned; and remember, they didn't release this movie in January by mistake.
